Did you know that Tithe is goods NOT money?

Updated: Nov 17, 2022

Scripture says that tithing is goods not money, to be given to a tribe of the Israelites. Old testament, the Israelite tribes tithed to a tribe within the Israelite group called the Levites, and new testament illudes to the same with folks bringing anise, cummin, and mint in Matt 23:23 to the synagogue.

Only 1 scripture mentions turning goods to money for tithe, but also continues to say; turn it back to goods prior to giving it to the intended party. Deu 14:22-29

If we want to honor this tradition we should give goods to those who are less fortunate, not 10 percent of our income to a business, an organization that goes by the name of a 'Church'.

We should not allow men to condemn us or make us feel guilty for not giving 10% of our income to a group of people because the Lord NEVER asked us to do this. This is a desire of man, not of the Father.

Since we are no longer under the Levitical Priesthood, this requirement does not apply to us. Jesus Christ is our High Priest, and we pray directly to the Father now. No longer do we have to consult or confess our sins to the human High Priest or over a lamb before slaughter.

A monetary offering or donations are different things compared to tithing. One is able to give as much or as little as they are lead to do to their Church family. These are collected on a as needed basis without the guilt speech usually. Helping with someone's funeral expenses, a mission trip, a church sponsored couples retreat, or to help a member catch up on their bills.
If you decide to give 10% of your gross earnings each year; this is a donation, not tithe. You are welcome to do so. This article is not to tell you to stop financially supporting your institution, just to inform you they should not be laying a thick guilt trip on the congregation each week to insure they receive these funds.

They UNBibilically preach each week scolding the congregation from the pulpit with misrepresented scriptures or ones taken out of context to keep the funds coming in. Preachers have told me that we the people changed tithing to be monetary contributions (since times have changed) over goods to enable the churches to do their jobs, to minister, and spread the gospel as scripture says our commission is to preach the gospel to every nation on earth. They use one scripture to justify changing another. By their own words they admit they changed what the LORD wanted for the Levitical Priesthood to meet their needs or desires; changed the words of God, his laws.

They want us to keep THIS old testament commandment, but not the others!! Why is that?

No scriptures support what we know today as a ‘church’, a non profit business or organization collecting thousands to hundreds of thousand dollars per year to pay for expenses to a structure and land, salaries, may assist some in inside and outside ministries, and do very little community or international charity. A church is The body of Christ which is the people, not the building. And we as individuals who make up the body of Christ, yes are called to minister to the masses each in our own level of ministry.
If one is called to be a missionary, we are to assist those who need the financial help to do this calling, but we are NOT required to give 10% of our gross income all year long to an institution. The Lord will call us, if we are listening, to help those who are in need.

This process of collecting 10% of your gross income weekly also passes the buck of responsibility to another so that we as the giver feel we have done our part when, in reality, we have not. We blindly trust that the organization we donate to is using the funds as intended. In some cases it is, in a lot of cases it is NOT. This makes our people lazy as they feel they do not have to participate in anything as they have paid their dues, and don’t volunteer their time or goods.

It allows for greed to corrupt our brothers and sisters who work for this organization.

In scriptures synagogues were run by members of the Levite tribe of the Israelites. When Christ came to the scene he preached in them and became the High Priest when he was Baptized. When Christ died and resurrected he confirmed the Levitical priesthood was over by the Most Holy Place curtain being ripped in half at his death. We then started having services in peoples homes, some still in synagogues.
If you want to keep this commandment as a tradition then we should give 10% of our goods to the “church” or to people in need since the Levitical Priesthood has been dismantled by Christ.

In Summary, what we have known as tithe is not correct, not biblical, and should change if we want to live as we are commanded to do so; by every word of the Father. Deu 8:3, Luke 4:4

Please read the scriptures below and do you own study, you'll find that I am speaking the truth.

Scripture to study:
Leviticus 27:30-34
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord. And if a man will at all redeem ought of this tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord. He shall no search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

Deuteronomy 14:22-29
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy should desireth (buy goods upon arrival of location): and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. At the end of 3 years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates; And the Levite, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

Numbers 18:26
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.

Malachi 3:8-12
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me, But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse; for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the store house, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of Hosts.

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the roof of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Genesis 14:18-24
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand, And he gave him tithes of all. And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the processor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner Eshcol, and Mamre let them take their portion.

2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let he give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Matthew 23:23
23 Woe unto you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith, these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
