Did you know that we Sleep the Sleep of DEATH?

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

Eternal soul vs eternal life everlasting (body and "soul" or mind)
Out of body experience vs mind and living body make a soul.
immediate reward vs waiting for the 2nd coming of Christ and Judgement day
We are told when we die we immediately go to heaven or hell leaving our bodies as 👻 ghosts, souls, spirits. This is NOT what your Bible says... Preacher's use 2 Corinthians 5: 6-8 to explain to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and misrepresent that means dying and going to heaven prior to the 2nd coming of Christ. They fail to read the next few verses to you.

2Co 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
2Co 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
2Co 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
2Co 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
If you read the chapter you'd see the writer is speaking of when we live in sin (actively sinning) we are not present with the lord, but when we lay sin aside then we become in the presence of the Lord all while alive, not dead. And that we all have to answer for our actions at judgement, good or bad, done in this body prior to our deaths. Body in this context is the same as saying living in the flesh, or living in sin.

2Co 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (this has to be done while alive, not dead)
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2Co 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
2Co 5:12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
2Co 5:13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
2Co 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Scriptures say we will sleep with our fathers in the dust until the return of Christ.
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.
And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Scriptures say that Christ was the first to raise from the dead.
Act 26:21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
Act 26:22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
Act 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. Time no longer exists when we are sleeping. We will not know how much time has past when the Lord wakes us from the dirt on earth.
We do not perceive time while sleeping, even though time still ticks away to those who are awake those who sleep are not aware time is passing them by.
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Sleep and death are interchangeable in scriptures as described by John when Jesus was talking to the disciples about the death of Lazarus. Jesus says he is sleeping, the disciples thought the Lord meant a resting sleep, but Jesus corrected them and verified yes he is dead, and asleep, and He will wake him after 4 days of death. Jhn 11:1 Preacher's use Luk 16:19-31 as proof that our "souls" leave the body upon death. This is a story told by Christ that Lazarus died, went to Abraham's bosom, and was asked by someone in hell to give him a drop of water, and to revive a dead man to minister to his family.
The Lord taught in parables, with all other scriptures describing to be dead as asleep even those by Christ himself, this passage has to be a parable as he was talking to the pharisees at that time.

The prior two parables before through this one is a continual speech by Christ. Christ would not teach in circles or confusion. The point of this message was to say that IF they do not believe Moses' and the prophets writings they will not believe a man risen from the dead either.
This was also meant to symbolize when Christ will raise from the dead. Many do not believe that either.

One story can not override all the other scriptures that speak of death to equal sleeping until the resurrection occurs.
Jesus told us in Jhn 11:1-44 that death and sleep for Lazarus were the same thing.
Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. or Luke 23:43 when Jesus tells one man hanging next to him that he will join him in paradise to day. There was no punctuation when scriptures were written. The comma is clearly in the wrong spot.
Jesus said I say you today, you shalt be in paradise with me. The pause in the right spot gives a completely different meaning.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee To day, shalt thou be with me in paradise.
I say to you, today that you will be in paradise with me. This means something totally different doesn't it?

Since Christ did not ascend to heaven for 3 days and 3 nights, he couldn't have possibly meant the same day because he wasn't there; he was in the grave asleep.
If dude went to sleep (died) and wakes when Jesus comes back he won't know if it is today or if thousands of years past.

Why would Christ preach of a resurrection for all then go back on his word and take folks as they die? Or Act 2:31
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell (grave), neither his flesh did see corruption. Hell should have been translated as grave, see strongs concordance. There is no place of always burning fire meant to torment anyone. This will be a place on earth on judgement day when destruction is to take place for all the wicked, not before.
Or Mat 17:4-9 (mark 9:4, Luke 9:33) speaks of Moses and Elijah appears with Jesus, but vs 9 says do not reveal this Vision until Jesus rises from the dead. A vision happens in the mind, usually while asleep, and anyone can be placed in a vision. Sometimes vision's can occur while awake. Also one of these men was taken and ascended already to heaven jude 1:8 (Gen 5:24 & Hebrew 11:5 / 2 king 2:11) Just because 2 forefathers were seen in a vision doesn't mean these men had been resurrected.
Scriptures that support death equals sleep
1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
These verses tell us the Lord does not want us to be ignorant about those who sleep (the dead). This scripture is clear that those who are sleeping (dead in Christ) the Lord will raise from the dead first, and then those of us who remain alive will meet them in the clouds. Why would scriptures say this if it's not true, or why would this need to happen if we are already in heaven?
What purpose would God need with rotting corpses or dust if he already has our "souls" in his presence? We comfort each other with this knowledge of being woken by Jesus at the 1st resurrection, and the hope of the promise of everlasting life with the Lord for those who were faithful to Him and endured and overcame to the end by following the laws of God, all of the commandments not just the 10 while having the faith of Christ. Obedience through love. Daniel is not in Heaven
For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Dan 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
that many who are woken from sleeping in the dirt will rise to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Also in
Jhn 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
Jhn 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. Other verses that speak of death as sleeping are: Deu 31:16 2 sam 7:12 1 kings 1:21 Job 7:21 Job 14:12 Psa 13:3 Dan 12:13 Acts 2:34 Acts 13:36 We have to interpret the Bible with the Bible. 2 or more witnesses shall every word be established (truth revealed) 2Co 13:1
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
Many scriptures speak of sleep equals death, and 1 that speaks of souls leaving the body in a parable about the rich man and Lazarus To be separated from the body is a pagan belief, asterial projection, out of body experience 😕, soul separate from the body. I'm not saying these practices are not possible or do not exist. I'm saying I believe them to be evil practices not from God. The spirit can not exist without the body as described by the Bible.

The dead can not perform these tasks. Ecc 12:7 when we die our body returns to the dust and the breath (spirit-nᵊšāmâ H5397) returns to God.
Gen 3:19 death equals returning to the ground.
Out of body experiences are done with living people, not dead ones. In some occasions one maybe considered legally dead, and is brought back have claimed an out of body experience, but they were not completely dead. None of these cases can confirm a "soul" has sustained activity post death.

To see a "ghost" is a demon masquerading as someone who once lived, not a ghost of someone who once lived.
Only God is eternal and immortal. He can gift us eternal life, that doesn't make us immortal. Eze 18:4,20 says souls (people) shall die, sinners unrepentant. 1Ti 6:13-16 God is immortal
1Ti 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. We all know the body dies, but we've been lead to believe that we have a seperate spirit and that they are eternal in essence immortal, forever beings indestructible which we don't have. The Lord can and will destroy the ones who are not faithful to Him. Eliminate, cease to exist during the final battle, the Gog and Magog battle, Armageddon. Rev 20. Rev 20:8

This article explains what Hell is:

This article explains what happens after death:

After the 1000 year resign the Lord will raise the lost souls, release Satan, and Satan will rally his troops to fight against Christ. Christ will light all those souls/people on fire 🔥 with His eternal flame, each will burn them for their individual sins for the amount of time according to each persons actions while alive, and will end when each soul/person has been completely destroyed to ashes. This will appear as a lake of fire. The number of souls/people will be as the sands of the seas. To many to count. This is the 2nd death that we will not be part of, we the faithful to Christ and the Father, and His commandments. The Lord will destroy angels (devils) and humans in the final battle. Although Lucifer and his angles have been in existence longer than creation they will be destroyed on judgement day as well.

Who will you believe? Man who has lied OR our Creator whose word is truth?

Who will you listen to?

  • The Lord, Bible, The TRUTH, we are mortal, we sleep at death

  • Man who says we are already immortal.

Bible Study-scriptures Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.* A soul is body and breath together makes a living soul. Does not indicate that we exist outside of the body.
*Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;*
*Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit (breath) shall return unto God who gave it.*
