Did you know we are supposed to eat clean?

Updated: Mar 8, 2023

Should we follow the old testament command to eat clean?

What did Christ say? Did Christ say that all meats are clean?

The scripture that protestants use is in Mark 7; when they were discussing eating Bread with unwashed hands. The subject of clean or unclean meats was NOT part of the debate. The debate was about not following Jewish customs of washing of the hands as part of a ritual prior to eating the bread.

Keep in mind that the Pharisees were jews who followed the laws of the old testament. They adhered to eating clean foods. This was not the debate. The debate was keeping their man made traditions before scriptures. Making tradition more important than scriptures.

Is there another scripture where Christ addresses clean meats? No

What other new testament scripture do you feel cleans unclean meat?

Acts 11 ok let's look at it... A vision Peter had with the father telling him 3 times to eat unclean meats saying what I have cleansed thou shalt not call unclean. The whole time Peter refused to break the law of God. He was left confused by this vision until a knock at the door and 3 gentiles were there to be ministered to. Then the vision made since. The Father was telling him these men are clean and he wanted Peter to minister to them.
In that time the jews had made their own law that they were not allowed to speak with or be in the presence of gentiles. The Father was telling Peter that he has cleaned these men and to work with them.

The father did NOT over rule his prior commandment of clean and unclean meats. He spoke in parable form to explain His position on converted gentiles.

What did they convert to? Messianic jews, Christ believing jews.

There's one more scripture that protestants use to say this commandment was taken away.
1 Timothy 4 I used this one on many occasions before I allowed the Father to show me the truth. It starts out warning us of deceiving spirits so you guard is up. BUT we don't really see what it's saying. We've been taught it says every creature is good and clean to eat. We fail to read the parts that say the ones God created to be consumed, the ones sanctified by his word, the old testament.

Let's see what it says...
1 Timothy 4:1-5 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, !! which God hath created to be received!! with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is !! sanctified by the word of God !! and prayer.

We have not been given permission to eat unclean.

Protestants say we only keep the laws that are repeated in the new testament. This is how they justify their walk. They say we only have to keep the 2 commandments Christ gave.
They fail to realize that he was first asked what is the greatest commandment from the old testament (new hasn't been written at this point), and 2nd did NOT say do this instead of that. That this conversation was held between to jewish men. Christ said with these 2 hangs all the laws and the prophets. He referred them back the whole law of God because every command is applied to how we treat each other or the Father which is why he replied in this nature. They were trying to get him to say something they could hold against him, but Christ being smart and knowledgeable of their intentions knew how to respond.

Let's read it..
Matthew 22:36-40
36 Master, !! which is the great commandment in the law? !!
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On !! these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.!!

Christ says to keep the commandments, if you love him. John 14:15 & 15:10 He says my doctrines are not my own but from the Father who sent him. John 7:16 If Christ tells us to keep the law why would Paul tell us to break it? How does Paul have more authority than Christ? OR have we been mislead and misunderstanding Paul's writings? Who will you follow? Christ, Paul, or men?

Revelation says the saved will be those who have the faith of Christ and keep the commandments. Revelation 14:12, 22:14 Messianic Jews, gentiles are adopted into the family as converts. We all have the same rules and expectations, no difference between us. Acts 15:3 conversion of the gentiles

With this brought to light, what will your next step be? Will you continue as you are making excuses that gentiles don't have to keep the law of the Father? Will you pray and search in scriptures (not commentary, not opinions of men) to find the truth? Will you make the changes needed to observe what our creator has required?

If we want truth we have to let go of the false doctrines. It's hard to accept and acknowledge We've been mislead. It's hard to turn your back on what we've been told our whole life. It's a little easier to let go of unclean things when you realize that it is still expected by your creator. It's easier to stand apart when you know that you are following what our Lord's (Father and Son) have commanded.
