Explanation of the 1st and 2nd resurrections?

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

What happens when we die!?

Did you know there are several verses that say we sleep in the dirt with our forefathers when we die? And the promise of immortality is not given until the 1st resurrection when Christ returns, and we spend eternity with the Lord according to the Bible.

We are told that we are given immortality at birth, which is NOT supported by scripture. Spirituality has been involved in religions for several generations now. We are told that when we die we immediately go to heaven or hell depending on whether or not we are saved which also contradicts scriptures.

The promise, yet to be fulfilled, is an eternal life.

We believe that our Father is a just God. How just would he be to send people to a burning pit a fire for centuries, millennia’s for punishment? Those who were not believers but were by human standards good people never harming anyone else; to have to spend eternity in equal torment as those who were murderers, rapist, and such; This would not be an act of a just and fair Father.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just (lawful, righteous, correct) and right is he.

The truth in the scriptures is we sleep the sleep of death until the resurrection. The 1st resurrection is for the just who have died in Christ keeping the commandments, and those faithful in the old testament times, at this time those people will be given immortality. The 2nd resurrection, after the 1000 year reign, is for the unjust to be destroyed by Christ by hellfire until all sinful people are ashes under his feet, completely destroyed for all eternity including Lucifer and his fallen angels. Each person/angel will burn for the length of time of the sin in their life until complete annihilation has occurred. This is the final battle, Armageddon where sin is removed from existence. (See End Times Prophecy) All people who have died from the beginning of time to now are resting in peace asleep, the good and bad, waiting for the resurrection. RIP, we once knew what that meant.

This is an act of a just Father. Not one who would burn someone for all eternity.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Lazarus is dead. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, “I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:*

*1 Corinthians 15:18, 42, 51-54 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all SLEEP, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory.*

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Sleep
I encourage you to read the full chapters. Although I am listing individual verses this doesn’t mean that doctrines have been made by picking and choosing lines in scriptures. Also keep in mind the original text was not separated by verses and chapters. Each book was a full continual letter to the body of Christ or by a prophet.

Italics and parenthesis in scripture were not in the original text, these have been added by translators to interpret. In some cases, the interpretation is NOT correct or at least we do not interperate it correctly with the original intent. I believe the Word is written correctly, we just have to remove our own understanding and beliefs to see the TRUTH.

The KJV was last interpreted in 1611 during the reformation from the Catholic Church supervised by a King who was of protestant belief and many prior Catholic Priests. As the Catholic Church ruled with a fist of iron for 1260 years as predicted by scriptures. Killing anyone they could who did not share their (Catholic) beliefs world wide, calling them heretics. All protestants, in the beginning, of the protest found their beginnings in the Catholic church, and left making a protest to some of their beliefs but also kept some. The core beliefs to every protestant has false doctrines that tie back to the Catholic Church.

I also believe some books were left out of the Cannon based on those beliefs. I do not believe the Lord intended to have 66 books as his completed work for us to know and follow. Proof, is there are books spoken of in scriptures that are not in the Cannon; also quotes from scriptures that can’t be found in the Cannon “as it is written”.

Joshua 10:13, Numbers 21:14, 1 Chron 27:24, 29:29, 2 Chron 27:7, 35:27, 36:8, 9:1, 20:34, 33:18, 13:22, 12:15, 26:22, 20:34, Esther 1:23, 6:1, Mal 3:16, Dan 12:1, 7:10 Phil 4:3, Rev 20:11-12, 22:19, 5:1, 10:2
But I do believe that He allowed enough to remain intact for us to find the truth in His word.

Summary of the above scriptures:
When Christ returns all saved persons will be caught up in the sky to spend 1000 earthly years with the Father and Christ.
The wicked will be killed that same day by the countenance of Christ, and remain that way for 1000 years. This will cause Lucifer to rest cause there will be no one for him to tempt. Thes 2:8

Below tells us that we will be with the Lord 1 day and it will seem as 1000 years on Earth. Because time was created when Earth was created. The Father is not subject to our concept of time.
2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that 1 day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as 1 day

At the end of the 1000 years the Lord will bring New Jerusalem to Earth, he will resurrect all the wicked, and Satan will have another chance with them (not the saved) to attempt to take over New Jerusalem, to kill the saints, to take over power from the Lord, to acquire fruit from the tree of life. This is the final battle, the Apocalypse, Armageddon, spoken of in Scriptures.
This is when Christ will reign down HellFire on the wicked, on the Fallen Angels including Lucifer.
Each person will burn for the length of time they deserve based on their earthly works. This will be so massive it will appear as a “Lake of Fire”
Each person/angel will be annihilated into ashes under the feet of Christ. Completely destroyed.
