How important is the Sabbath day to the Lord? Saturday

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

In the days that Christ ministered on Earth Christ HE kept the Sabbath day Holy. The followeres of Christ were devoutely committed to keeping the laws of the Father; Christ was amoung them keeping all the laws of the Father.

Men made traditions to help them remember on how they felt the laws should be upheld prior to Christ coming to the world. Some of their traditions became more important to them than the law. A lot of these things were minor such as often washing of hands, picking up sticks, helping someone in need or ill, and so many more.
Christ comdenmed them for this saying you keep mans tradistions over the laws of the Father.

And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye

Men, pharaisees, accused Christ of breaking the sabbath day law for healing a man, and for picking grain to eat.
Was he though? A breaker of the law when he healed that man? or his disciples picked the grain?
Christ did not break the law and simply explained to them that they were wrong in their judgement and understanding of what the law says and how it should be upheld.

Christ explains to them that mankind is more important than a sheep, and that they would save it if in need on the sabbath day, and we should assist men also on the sabbath day.

The man with a withered hand was healed, a good thing to do on a Sabbath, not breaking the law.
The Below veres were referring to the same account and told by two witnesses.

Mar 3:3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

Mar 3:4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Mar 3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Mat 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

Mat 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

Mat 12:13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Mat 12:14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

Below is the account of the grain picking.
If you are hungry and require food on the sabbath then you should find it and eat. These are the examples that Christ set for us. The one who helped create all things.

Mar 2:23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

Mar 2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

Mar 2:25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

Mar 2:26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

If you claim Christ as your Lord and Savior then you should pay close attention to what comes next.

The 7th Day Sabbath was the 1st commandment ever given to all men. This is not a law that was given to a specific sect of people, it is for ALL men! We all should be keeping Saturday Holy as we are commanded by the Word of God.

This commandment was not ever taken away or changed. It was given by the Father on the 7th day of creation.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

The Father, Christ, the prophets, and apostles all say to gain eternal life at the 1st resurresction we are to keep the commandments. The Sabbath day falls within that requirement. This includes the 7th day sabbaths and the annual sabbaths.

The WILL of the Father is to keep the commandments as given in the Old Testament. This is what Christ taught, the WILL of the Father, not a new doctrine. The WILL of the Father did not change from old to new testaments.

What is WILL- Mat 12:50

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

g2307- thelema, Will; What one wishes or has determined shall be done

The Father's WILL is His Law.

Mat 7:21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Christ said that he is the only way to the Father. This also says his existance replaces the Levetical Preisthood.

Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Did you know that:
The entry gate to the tabernacle was called the WAY
The first curtain into the Holy Place was called the TRUTH/DOOR
The second curtain in the Most Holy Place was called LIFE

Christ has the right to determine what can or cannot be done on the Sabbath since He is the one who created it all with the Father.

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The sabbath day is establised on the 7th day, blessed and santified by the Father and the Son. They (Father and the Son) set aside for Their purposes. This is the day for us to commune with the Lord. To spend time with the Father. To do no work nor make others work for us.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God (Elohim) created and made.

The verses below established there was more than one being during creation. These confirm the meaning of Elohim to be plural, more than one being.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

These new testament verses confirm that Christ was party to creation occuring.

Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

The Incomparable Christ

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Scriptures say that Christ is the Lord (master) of the Sabbath. Why? because he was party to creating it as mentioned above.

Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Luk 6:5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

What does this verse mean that the sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath?
It means that the Lord wanted us to have a day appointed and dedicated to Him, getting to know him by reading his Word, Honoring him by keeping his commandments, and a day we can let go of our worldly troubles to rest. It gives us an oportunity to build up our spiritual armor learning and knowing the truth so that we can recognize it when false doctrines are presented to us. A chance to recognize when false prophets appear in our lives. A time we can build a closer relationship with the Father and the Son.

It also means there are times that when we think we may be breaking the sabbath day but really aren't. Meaning that if we are headed back from Saturday service and are involved in car wreck. We seek medical attention. Would Christ want us to be left in the middle of the road injured? Of course not, he would want us to tend to our wounds or have someone to. A storm takes our home on the Sabbath, are we to wonder around in need? No of course not, others are to see to our immediate needs if noone comes forward we may need to rent a room somewhere.

It means this day was created for us as a gift, not that the day was created that we have to be subjected and keep certain laws to be part of it.

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Since the sabbath day was created on the 7th day for that day to be held for all eternity as a day of rest, it stands above and before all other commandments, which means it is very important. It was the 1st commandment of Elohim. (them)
It was also created prior to any births on earth, prior to any sects of peoples, prior to sin being committed, prior to the exile of Eden.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

ALL men are invited to hear the gospel of Christ, encouraged to keep the commandments of Elohim, and to learn and obey the truth. The sad truth is few will.

Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Examples below:
Converted gentiles in the Synagogue begged to hear the gospel again in Acts. These weren't general run of the mill everyday pagans hearing the word from the street as they passed by a service.
These were converted gentiles to Judaism also known as proselytes and God-fearers.
They just heard prophecies of what would happen to Christ, who Christ was to be, who Christ was/is, and wanted to know more about thier God, what their purpose was, and the Messiah.

Act 13:14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

Act 13:15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

Act 13:16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Act 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Paul Turns to the Gentiles

Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Act 13:45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

Act 21:18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

Act 21:19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

Act 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

Act 21:21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

Act 21:22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

Act 21:23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them; (the elders have 4 men with a vow upon them, these men are not determined to be jew or gentile. IF these 4 men are gentiles then Paul is showing everyone that he believes the LAW is for ALL men in the Faith to follow which is also my belief, and backed up by other scriptures. ONE FAITH ONE LAW for native and stranger, jew and gentile.

IF these men are jews then Paul is showing the elders and locals that he believes some men should keep the law.)

Act 21:24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. (The elders asked Paul to take these 4 men into the temple to prove to to the Jews that the rumors are not true, the rumor that Paul was teaching gentiles to break the laws of the Fathers, but that Paul himself keeps the law of the Father)

Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

Act 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

ONE FAITH ONE LAW for native and stranger, jew and gentile.

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Exo 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Lev 7:7 As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it.

Num 15:16 One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

Num 15:29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

That is what we all should be, converted gentiles to proselytes. Not what we think we know of Judaism but the true conversion. Ones who fear the Lord, keep his commandments in honor to him, and share the truth with others.

We have been convinced that converted gentiles do not need to keep the commands of the Father. OR that noone who follows Christ (Jew or Gentile) has to keep the commandments of the Father. BOTH are LIES!

I will pray for you to hear the truth of the Words of Elohim, that you see the example Christ presented while he ministered, that you can see through the lies and false doctrines that everyone you know keeps saying over and over. Your eternity depends on it.
