What does the Father require of us?

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

To Trust and Obey
I know we've all heard it, but never told the truth about what to obey.

What commandments are we expected to keep?
The same ones Christ kept.

What are the 10 and others that describe them in better detail? Exodus 20
*Honor and love God above all else
*do not bow to or worship any other god, or make an idol
*do not take the Lords name in vain
*Keep the weekly Sabbath and keep it holy
*honor your mom and dad
*do not murder
*do not commit adulatory
*do not steal
*do not lie
*do not be jealous of things or people you do not have
613 commandments, some have been ratified, meaning we don't have to keep those, and are listed below.

*Love your God with all your heart, mind, and soul
*Love your neighbor as yourself-
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
*keep the annual sabbaths and the weekly sabbaths less the sacrifices Lev 23
*share the truth to all those willing to listen and accept it
*Pray to the Father in the name of Christ
*Ask for forgiveness and forgive others
*Eat of the clean animals
*Help the poor, widowed, and lame
*Dietary laws Lev 11
*Wear a tassel as a reminder to keep the law Num 15:38-40
*Help your enemy in need Ex 22
*No cuttings or print any marks on your body for the dead Lev 19:28
*circumcised of the heart
*circumcise new males at 8 days old Lev 12
*mother stay away from holy things and sanctuary for 40 days after birth
*NO sexual immorality described as sex with animals, sex with the same gender, sex with immediate relatives, sex with someone who is not your opposite gender spouse, no sex with a woman on her period, do not rape Lev 18
*Honor the rest (no growing or plowing) of the land every 7 years and jubilee (50 years) cycles. Ex 23, Num 9
*Do not commit idolatry Lev 19, Ex 20

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

We no longer have to keep the sacrificial commandments as Christ was our last and Ultimate sacrifice.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

We no longer keep the Levitical Priesthood as Christ is our High Priest

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee
Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

We no longer keep the corporal punishment as Christ said not to.

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

We should be Circumcised of the heart

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
